Stepping up awareness
The overriding message from REPs’ members, operators and industry leaders is that REPs has to increase its profile with the millions of people of who use the services of exercise professionals.
Following the success of an awareness campaign run through more than 1,000 clubs and centres across the UK, REPs is now adding some important search facilities on its website.
The advanced directory search of members is already operational – so it is now possible to look for qualified and registered members by name, location and status of registration (such as a Pilates teacher, group exercise teacher, personal trainer, etc.).
Hundreds of REPs members are signing up to this recently launched benefit – and with thousands of searches already being made for exercise professionals on REPs, it is an obvious development.
Alongside the member search directory will be a new directory listing all the clubs, centres and locations where members of the public can find a member of REPs.
The Register estimates that nearly 70 per cent of all exercise professionals working in the UK are now registered, and it’s important that people know how to track them down.
Registrar Cliff Collins said: “By inviting our members to tell us where they work, we can link it with existing information to give the public what they want from a comprehensive search facility.”
