Survey: parents 'calling for outdoor play'
Four out of five UK adults would like the incoming government to provide more opportunities for outdoor play.
A nationwide survey commissioned by Play England - and conducted by ICM - found that 83 per cent of British adults think that the next government should have policies that ensure children can play outside more.
Adrian Voce, director of Play England, said: "There is a tendency to think of children's play as something that isn't a matter for government but our research shows that it is a serious issue for voters.
"Our research shows that adults clearly think there is a big role for the Government in addressing the barriers and making this a reality."
The unveiling of the report coincides with the publication of Play England's Manifesto for Children's Play, which calls on the next government to make play a priority and asks all political parties to adopt three simple pledges.
The ICM study questioned 1,002 adults across the UK.
