Tendring play areas earmarked for revamp
Play areas in Wix and Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, are set to undergo a major overhaul as part of a new £115,000 project unveiled by Tendring District Council (TDC).
Work is already underway at the Harwich Road site in Wix to replace old equipment as part of a £50,000 revamp, while Clacton-on-Sea's Rush Green Recreation Ground will also to benefit from a £50,000 overhaul. Funding has been provided through the Department of Children, Schools and Families' Playbuilder initiative to provide new and improved facilities for young people across the country.
Meanwhile, TDC will provide a further £15,000 to create a separate play area at Rush Green Recreation Ground, which will be targeted at young people under the age of eight years old. TDC cabinet member for leisure Stephen Mayzes said: "It is the council's pledge that all new play areas will be family-orientated and accessible to all. Play areas play a big part in contributing towards the health and well-being of our residents leading to a more active lifestyle."
