Travelodge Redditch opens
Budget hotel operator Travelodge has opened a new hotel in Redditch and is developing a further property in Edinburgh.
The grade II-listed Redditch property comprises a 13-bedroom hotel converted from a restored 15th century farmhouse, with a 30-bedroom extension building.
Hotel manager Natalie Jones said: “We are situated in an idyllic location, surrounded by rolling hills and countryside - it will really help business and leisure travellers relax.”
The second Travelodge hotel features a 35-year lease on the former Edinburgh Greens Swallow hotel in central Edinburgh.
The 55-bedroom building will be converted into a 72-bedroom hotel during a £1.7m refurbishment. Edinburgh Greens Travelodge – due to open in November – will be the chain’s fourth hotel in the Scottish capital.
Travelodge’s Development Director Tony O’Brien said: “Edinburgh is a major European tourist destination which generates huge demand for quality budget hotel accommodation.”
