Try a Triathlon
This summer children from across Sussex have the opportunity to participate in their first triathlon as the Wave Leisure Triathlon Series 2011 is launched for the second year.
Hundreds of young people aged between 8 and 14 will be able to take part in mini-triathlons at Lewes Leisure Centre and Ringmer Swimming Pool and a mini-aquathlon at Seaford Head Pool.
The first event is at Lewes Leisure Centre on Sunday 19th June, with the other events coming up in July and August.
Triathlon is one of the fastest growing and vibrant Olympic sports. Sussex children will have the opportunity to experience triathlon, and may just be inspired to emulate one of Britain's five current world champions.
The emphasis of the Wave Leisure Series is on inclusion, no matter what ability each child has in the different disciplines. The distances are very achievable and the environment is totally supportive so it is relevant to all, whatever their level of fitness.
Peter Crowley, Managing Director of Wave Leisure, said: "Wave Leisure has a major emphasis on community involvement. It's a strength we have as an organisation and it's central to our ethos.
"We are focused on ensuring that participation in the grass roots of the sport are being nurtured, and that children have the opportunity to experience an Olympic sport in their own community."
