Ultimate reports buoyant first half
Ultimate Leisure, the owner of the Chase and Coyote Wilde club brands, announced a 40 per cent jump in its operating profit in the six-month period to 31 December.
The pub and nightclub operator also revealed a 30 per cent rise in its pre-tax profits.
Turnover for the six-month period rose from £12.8m to £17.8m, while pre-tax profit surged from £3.3m to £4.2m
Ultimate operates mainly in the northeast, although it has recently expanded into Belfast ad Derby.
According to its Chief Executive, Allan Rankin, it is currently "looking all over the UK" for further expansion opportunities.
The news comes just days after Urbium – owner of the Tiger Clubs chain – announced that its sales were up 13 per cent.
John Conlan, chair of Urbium, said: "we believe prospects for 2004 are more encouraging than they have been for some time. Sales in January and February have exceeded our expectations."
