Updated parks strategy for Aberdeenshire
Aberdeenshire Council's infrastructure services committee has approved a updated parks and open spaces strategy.
Revisions were made to the document in light of funding decisions for the area's parks and open spaces as part of an interim budget announced in November 2010. Aberdeenshire Council will limit the amount of open space that it adopts in future, and there will also be a 'general presumption' against adopting areas that don't serve a direct council function.
Jill Webster, vice chair of the infrastructure services committee, said: "Supplementary planning guidance is clear that there has to be maintenance of open spaces through section 75s and conditions and we have to be strict to impose these."
