Vida Sports moves into health club sector
The Scottish leisure group, Vida Sports, is set to enter the health club market, opening a series of new gyms in the Republic of Ireland.
The operator, which is best known for its five-a-side football centres, is planning to roll out several gyms in the Waterford, Galway and Dublin areas over the next year.
The health clubs will be aimed at the middle of the market, operating on a pay-as-you-go basis, with no joining fees or annual membership.
The company says the gyms will have state-of-the-art facilities, with saunas and steamrooms, but not spa baths or swimming pools.
Five-a-side football will still play a prominent part in the new facilities – each of the sites will be anchored by five-a-side football centres alongside.
The first site – in Waterford – has already been acquired, with further sites expected to be confirmed by Vida later this year. Details: www.vida.co.uk
