Vineyard spa opens at Solage Calistoga
A new day spa has opened near the town of Calistoga in Napa Valley, California, US, as part of a new green resort brand called Solage from Auberge Resorts.
Designed by Napa Valley-based architect Howard Backen, the 89-bedroom, cottage-style Solage Calistoga takes advantage of natural heating and cooling opportunities.
Features such as exaggerated eaves enable temperatures to be moderated while tall, shaded windows filter sunlight to cool interior spaces.
Public areas at Spa Solage feature bamboo and reclaimed cedar, while geothermal hot springs deep beneath the property have been tapped to heat treatment rooms and soaking pools at the 20,000sq ft (1,858 sq m) wellness area.
In total, there are 14 treatment rooms and therapies will use the all-natural San Francisco-based Sumbody range of products. The spa’s signature treatment, the MudSlide, incorporates a series of mud treatments and soaks in spring-fed pools.
In the relaxation area, there are five NASA-researched SO SoundChairs, which create sounds and tactile vibrations absorbed into the body.
