Visitors urged to take business and pleasure trips
British cities and resorts can boost their earnings by more than £50m by encouraging business travellers to include leisure in their trips according to a report by the British Tourism Partnership.
'Making the Most of Our Business Visitors' gives advice on how event organisers, hotels and visitor bureaux can encourage business travellers to maximise their spend and boost income for local business.
The reports says that business travellers, who spend on average three times more than leisure visitors, could be encouraged to extend their trips by the provision of accompanying person's leisure programmes, the addition of extra social events and excursions and the promotion of return leisure visits.
The report was researched by Rob Davidson, senior lecturer of business tourism at the University of Westminster. Details:+44 (0)20 8563 3253
