Wavegarden has released the Wavegarden Cove (Cove), a modular system that creates customisable waves for surfing enthusiasts miles away from the ocean.

The result of years of computational fluid dynamics research, the Cove can generate up to 1000 waves per hour, varying from knee-high rides to powerful barreling waves with heights of up to 2.4 metres.
It features patented bathymetric technology that can create multiple surf areas and allow currents to circulate without impacting the quality of the waves.

The innovative system is able to produce a wide variety of left and right-hand waves, with the wave-riding experience lasting between 15 and 20 seconds. At maximum capacity it can pump out two waves every eight seconds.
The Cove was tested by 20 of the world’s best surfers and coaches, including Gabriel Medina, Sebastian Zietz, each of them riding hundreds of waves per session.

High performance surf coach for the Australian Institute of Sport Andy King says: “It has really exceeded any expectations I had, or thought were possible, for a man-made wave. Three days in the Cove is equivalent to three months training in the Sea.”
Josema Odriozola, founder and CEO of Wavegarden, says: “The versatility of our technology means we can alter wave height, shape and power in an instant to match the experience level of all surfers. Also, we can adjust the number of waves to cater precisely for the number of surfers in the water.”

The Cove is available in a range of different models, differentiated by by maximum wave height and length, the shape and size of the facilities is fully customisable to the customer’s needs. Smaller versions are compact enough to fit into resorts and shopping complexes, while larger systems can incorporate additional play and swimming ares and significantly increase user capacity.
