Weakening pound could attract tourists
The weaker pound could provide the UK tourism industry with a boost this year, as the low price of the sterling is set to lure more Europeans to the country.
The Euro was worth 66p just a year ago (March 2007), but has recently inched higher and is currently at an all-time high of around 79p.
Some analysts expect that the Euro will continue to strengthen and will inch closer to the 1:1 ratio throughout the next few months.
And it is not just inbound tourism that might be affected by the money markets. It is expected that the weak pound could deter Brits from taking short European breaks, and instead travel within the UK.
According to UKInbound figures, the number of tourists entering the UK fell considerably during the last quarter of 2007.
