Whitby marina plans passed
Scarborough Borough Council (SBC) has approved plans to build £1m onshore marina facilities at Whitby Upper Harbour in North Yorkshire.
Proposals for the new harbour amenities, which were given planning permission on 8 January, include toilets, showers, a launderette, a disposal unit and recycling facilities, as well as a marina reception. Tender returns are expected at the end of January from interested contractors, and once one is appointed, work will begin to develop detailed design proposals for the marina building.
Herbert Tindall, SDC's portfolio holder for harbours, said: "When implemented, the scheme will put the town at the forefront of marina facilities and will build upon the growing reputation for quality and service delivery."
