Winter walking passport launched for Hadrian’s Wall country
Next month, the Countryside Agency is to launch a Walking Around Hadrian’s Wall Country winter passport.
The passport will be available between 1 November and 30 April and features over 20 one-day circular walks across the region: from Bowness-on-Solway to Newcastle.
The winter passport is based on the same format as the summer passport which proved to be popular earlier this year. Walkers can collect six stamps from stamping stations in shops, pubs and visitor attractions to qualify to purchase a special winter passport badge.
David McGlade, National Trail officer said: “We want to carry the popularity of the summer passport into the winter months, but ensure that we balance the need to protect the fragile nature of the National Trail with the need to support businesses based close to the trail route.”
The walks are suitable for people of all ages with opportunities and include access for the less-able bodied.
