Women's sports centres to receive funding
A total of15 centres for women's sport across the UK are to receive funding in a joint initiative between Aqua Pura and Sportsmatch it was announced today.
The Aqua Pura Women in Athletics project will run for three years and will focus upon delivering a wide range of activities, programmes and courses co-ordinated by UK Athletics and run in close partnership with local schools, colleges and athletics clubs.
In addition to the £10,000 invested by Aqua Pura, Sportsmatch is raising the total to £20,000, much of which will be invested in the area of coaching - the Outreach women's coaching programme and the Aqua Pura centre for Education and Training are both designed to encourage more women into coaching.
Jason Williams marketing manager for Aqua Pura welcomed the backing of Sportsmatch: We are delighted that Sportsmatch are also backing this programme to help even more women and girls in athletics.
The final fifteen centres have been selected from over 40 applications.
