Work begins on Stony Holme Golf Club improvements
Work began at the end of November on a £350,000 refurbishment at Stony Holme Golf Course, managed by Carlisle Leisure.
The scheme, being delivered in partnership between Carlisle Leisure and Carlisle City Council, will reinstate and improve the golf course pavilion which was damaged by a flood early last year.
The project is being led by the council’s commercial and technical services division and carried out by Postlethwaite Construction and Architects Plus. It is scheduled for completion by April this year.
Jim Douglas, managing director of Carlisle Leisure, said: “This project will ensure that the regular golfers and visiting parties coming to Stony Holme Golf Course have top of the range facilities to enjoy both before and after playing.
“We are delighted that the work has now commenced and will be ready for the start of the new 2006 season.”
The work at Stony Holme is part of a £1.15m, three-year plan for leisure facilities in Carlisle, which has already seen improvements at The Sands leisure centre including an extended gym, refurbished café and improved access.
