Work set to start on Norwich skate park
Construction work is set to get underway on a new £300,000 skate facility on a site near the community centre and sports ground in Norwich's Eaton Park.
Norwich City Council (NCC) and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) are funding the new venue, which will be built by Freestyle Skateparks and is set to cover around 1,000sq m (10,764sq ft) The council has worked along with the Skatepark Consultation Group to draw up plans for the facility in order to cater for a range of disciplines. Work is due to take 14 weeks to complete.
Chris Sturgess, a founder member of the consultation group, said: "It has been a long haul - I have been involved in working towards this for seven years, with some members of the group campaigning even longer, and there were times we thought it wasn't going to happen. "But we have had a lot of support from the council and it has been worth it to see work beginning."
