Work set to start on Pomphrey Hill pavilion
A turf cutting ceremony is scheduled to be held on 6 April to mark the start of work on a new sports pavilion at Pomphrey Hill playing fields in Mangotsfield, Bristol.
South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) is providing £1.5m towards the £2m scheme, which has also been handed a £500,000 award by the Football Foundation. Work on the pavilion is set to form the second phase of development at the Pomphrey Hill playing fields; the first involving the construction of £400,000 changing rooms funded by the council.
SGC executive member for communities Heather Goddard said: "The grant from the Football Foundation adds to the resources that South Gloucestershire Council and its partners have already set aside to build this much-needed community and sports facility. "Once complete, the pavilion will make a real difference to our community sports clubs and will provide top-class facilities that will really benefit the local community."
