Work starts on outdoor gym for Paddington
Westminster City Council (WCC) has started work on the construction of a new £113,000 outdoor gym and sports facility at Paddington Recreation Ground, London.
More than 10 pieces of free-to-use equipment, such as running machines, recumbent bikes and tai-chi balance discs, will be installed at the site. The outdoor gym and sports facility will complement the existing assault course, running track and indoor gym and pool at Paddington Recreation Ground.
WCC cabinet member for community services Steve Summers said: "This outdoor gym will provide an excellent and free resource for people to work, play and learn about the benefits of fitness and exercise in the fresh air. "As we get closer to the Olympic Games, it is essential that we can provide fitness activities in more pioneering and innovative ways. This new gym provides that."
