Wrexham Museum receives HLF grant
The proposed redevelopment of Wrexham Museum has received a £950,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
The grant will allow Wrexham Borough Council to open up more of the museum building and its collections to the public and increase educational opportunities.
External works to the forecourt and the creating of a glass extension will create more display space and inside, there will be new interactive, family-friendly and community-based displays.
Jennifer Stewart, head of HLF Wales, said: "This project will give Wrexham the museum it truly deserves and create a focal point for the town. The redevelopment will mean thousands more people will be able to enjoy the collections and learn about the rich history on their doorstep."
The museum intends to increase annual visitor numbers from 15,000 to 53,000.
