Wycombe council resolves issues with Nexus
Wycombe District Council (WDC) has apologised for a dispute with operator Nexus Community that resulted in members being told they couldn't use three of the council's gyms when Nexus' contract ended.
Nexus sent letters to all 2,000 gym members of Lifestyles gyms at Wycombe Sports Centre, Court Garden Leisure Complex and Risborough Springs Swim and Fitness Centre, in light of its contract ending and Parkwood Leisure resuming the centres' management 1 April. The council said that it was "a unilateral decision" and it can't explain Nexus' actions. However, the council and Nexus have since apologised for any "distress" caused to members.
Nexus still operates the Sprinters Leisure Centre and members will be able to maintain use of this centre in addition to the other three sites until 31 December 2009, when the contracts will then be separated.
