Radisson SAS Leeds and the National Railway Museum in York were among this year’s winners of Yorkshire Tourist Board’s (YTB) White Rose Awards for Tourism.

The awards, now in their 15th year, recognise the best of the region’s tourism businesses and companies were honoured in 15 categories with Radisson SAS Leeds taking home the hotel of the year award, while York’s NRM was awarded the conference venue of the year title.

The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds took the visitor attraction of the year award from a shortlist that included The Deep in Hull and Rotherham’s Magna Science Adventure Centre.

The White Bear in Masham beat the Crab and Lobster in Asenby for the Yorkshire pub of the year title – a new award introduced this year.

The Moorlands Country House Hotel won the guest accommodation of the year award while The World of James Herriott in Thirsk was named as the small visitor attraction of the year in the under 100,000 visitors category.

Yorkshire-born tourism minister Richard Caborn said: “Quality is absolutely fundamental in tourism. That is why we must all strive for the very best if we are to steer our tourism industry to future growth and success.

“Tonight’s award winners have all encapsulated this by taking Yorkshire’s unique appeal as a tourist destination and adding their own flair, imagination and commitment to produce a quality product.”

The winners on 11 of the categories will now go through to the national Excellence in England Awards organised by VisitBritain.

The awards and gala dinner was held in the Station Hall of the National Railway Museum on 7 October.
