Youngsters opt for PE lessons at Keepmoat Stadium
Year 11 pupils from Hungerhill School in Doncaster are using facilities at Keepmoat Stadium as part of their PE lessons.
The school offers three periods of out of school health and fitness training, which has seen the youngsters using the gym, climbing wall and squash courts at the stadium.
Teacher Matt Hickin said: “The pupils really enjoy the time that they get out of school to focus on health an fitness. This opportunity allows them to do things differently to how they would in a the school environment.
“They learn about other skills as well as health and fitness as they have to organise themselves to get to the venues and mix with other customers.
“This gives them a taste of what is available to them fitness wise once they have left school and gives them skills that they can carry on into adult life.
“The gym at the Keepmoat is a fantastic, the environment and atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff are extremely helpful showing the pupils how to do a range of fitness activities.”
Gavin Baldwin, chief executive of the Stadium Management Company and the Dome said: “We are pleased to be able to accommodate the needs of Hungerhill School both at the stadium gym and the Dome.
“The pupils are learning invaluable lessons about health and fitness in a real environment and we hope that when they leave school they will have got a good feel for the venues and continue to use what are wonderful facilities.”
