£11m government boost for North East Bridgwater
Sedgemoor District Council (SDC) has been awarded more than £11m from the government's KickStart 2 programme towards the North East Bridgwater development.
Leisure and community facilities are proposed as part of the scheme, which aims to revitalise the town. Sports and recreation areas are also earmarked, along with an extensive foot and cycle path network. SDC portfolio holder for strategy and business services Anne Fraser said: "In times when all you hear about is drastic cuts, we are thrilled that such a large amount of money is coming into Bridgwater."
Nick Duckworth of Hallam Land Management, the lead developer on the project, added: "Many months of hard work have gone into the scheme from a whole host of people in many organisations. I am sure that the planned works will start to transform Bridgwater."
