£12m Arc Leisure Matlock centre opens
A new £12m leisure centre has opened its doors to the public in Matlock, Derbyshire.
Designed by architects Dyer and built by Morgan Sindall, the Arc Leisure Matlock facility replaces the existing Matlock Lido which closed on 14 August.
Facilities at the Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC)-owned centre include a 50-station gym fitted with cardiovascular and resistance equipment, such as Kinesis One and Cardio Wave.
Other facilities will include regional-standard badminton courts; spaces for indoor hockey, basketball, five-a-side football and gymnastics; and revamped outdoor football pitches.
DDDC has funded the scheme, with support also provided by Sport England; the Amateur Swimming Association; and the East Midlands Development Agency. Matlock and Area Sports and Recreation Group also contributed to the cost of Arc Leisure Matlock, which will be managed by Paul Blakemore. The build was project managed by Drivers Jonas Deloitte.
