£1.6m HLF boost for London's heritage
Plans for a renovation of the three Dutch Galleries at the Grade II-listed Wallace Collection is among three projects in London to receive a share of £1.6m from the National Lottery.
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded £470,000 towards the Westminster scheme, which will revamp a building that houses a collection of Rembrandt and Rubens paintings. Meanwhile, the work of British artist David Bomberg and the Borough Group will be go on permanent display for the first time in Southwark with the help of a £240,000 grant.
All Saints Church in Kingston upon Thames is the third recipient of funding, with £899,000 to go towards efforts to enhance and promote the Grade I-listed building's heritage. In addition to the confirmed grants, the HLF also awarded first round passes to five projects across the capital - including Bentley Priory and St John's Church, Notting Hill.
Reviving the Birthplace of British Cinema; Ingrebourne Valley Heritage Visitor Centre; and British Chinese Workforce Heritage are the three other schemes earmarked for funding.
