£16m awarded to London regeneration projects
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is teaming up with the Home and Communities Agency (HCA) to invest £16m in two regeneration projects.
The HCA, which is chaired by Johnson, is to contribute £13m and £3m respectively to Clapham Park in Lambeth and Hale Village in Haringey.
The £600m Hale Village scheme involves the building of a new hotel, commercial space, community facilities and green space, as well as housing, while the Clapham Park project focuses largely on housing.
Johnson said: "Despite the economic downturn, it is vital that we keep investing in our city and improving our infrastructure.
"Investment like this will support and help our economy grow so that London is fighting fit to compete in the global market place when the upturn comes."
