£2m Beaumaris Pier redevelopment work starts
Isle of Anglesey County Council (IACC) has commenced work on a £2m redevelopment of Beaumaris Pier, North Wales, in a bid to improve the structure's accessibility.
BAM Nuttall has been appointed to deliver the project following the completion of an initial design process, with the refurbishment due to take eight months to complete. The scheme is set to include the rejuvenation of the kiosk and shelter; the reinstatement of the pier's structure to its former width; and the replacement of existing decking.
Funding for the project has been provided by the European Regional Development Fund; the Welsh Assembly Government; and the local authority. IACC economic development and tourism portfolio holder Bob Parry said: "Unfortunately, due to the pier's deteriorating condition, we've been unable to delay the redevelopment works."
