£2m tourism funding for Northern Ireland
A new £2m Tourism Innovation Fund has been launched by the Northern Irish tourism minister, Arlene Foster, in a bid to support projects that are designed to attract more visitors to the country.
The funding, which will be administered by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB), will be used to support initiatives that focus on bringing local stories to life. Foster said: "The aim of the Innovation Fund is to enhance the growth, quality, competitiveness and sustainability of tourism in Northern Ireland by stimulating product development and improving the visitor experience."
NITB chair Howard Hastings added: "This scheme will encourage unique, individual and compelling reasons for people to come to Northern Ireland and return in the future. It will focus on revenue projects such as creative interpretation and innovative ways to showcase our many tourism products."
