£3m revamp for Newtownabbey leisure centre

Work on a £3m revamp of Valley Leisure Centre in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, is to begin on 27 November.

Contractors O’Hare & McGovern will be carrying out the work, including the construction of a new 20,000sq ft (1,850sq m) gym and spa and the replacement of the external cladding on the building.

Jim Gurney, manager of the facility, said: “Although parts of the centre will have to close at times to accommodate this work, the current fitness suite will remain open. Come spring 2007, all our members can move up to the new wellbeing centre.”
