£4m arts facility planned for Leek
A £4m community arts facility is being planned for Leek, Staffordshire.
The Market Street West Car Park has been earmarked as the potential for the site, which could include a theatre, a bowling alley and a cinema.
Sybil Ralphs, leader of the council, said: "Many people have told me they want this facility. We now have a feasible site and exciting plans, in line with our corporate plan promise to provide such a facility. But this is a big project and we need to be sure it's what our residents and businesses want."
The project will be included in a consultation pertaining to a master plan for the town's economic development over the next 10 to 20 years.
The aim of the venue is to become an important asset to the voluntary arts centre in supporting festivals, creative industries and visual and performing arts, be a tourist attraction, support the work of adult education and arts development and to diversify Leek's night time economy.
