IDASS from the outset at the Gym Group

The Gym Group are one of the fitness industry's success stories of recent years.

With fourteen gyms already opened and a positive expansion plan, the Gym Group has shown how the 'Low Cost', 24-hour sector can work. Right from the outset IDASS have been working with the Gym Group. When John Treharne had issues with the free weight flooring he turned to the company, known from his long term experience in the fitness sector. IDASS came up with a solution with delivery from stock and a quick turnaround.

IDASS have continued to work as the supplier of choice for the Gym Group and have recognised issues in the low cost market. It has looked towards the development of new solutions. Due to the hard wear of 24/7 use and sometimes with large weights and low staff cover, a durable floor covering was required. Looking for a smart finish and easy install, IDASS developed their existing interlocking mats to produce a totally new mat.

Paul Moore from IDASS said: "We have a factory producing the EVA material mats and edges as well as a factory producing rubber mats, so it was a simple step to get the solid rubber mats made to the interlocking mat dimensions. "The reality was a bit more of a challenge with a few attempts to get the exact specification.

"IDASS were confident of the toughness of the rubber mats, it was just great that the Gym Group had confidence to trust IDASS to use them immediately." This totally new and unique solution took the tried and tested durability of the solid rubber mats and combined it with the simplicity of the interlocking mats.

The bonus of this combination is that rubber mats can be used side by side with soft interlocking or firm interlocking mats. With the Gym Group it was the edge strip in their corporate blue that was used, the edges simplifying the fitting.

Kerry Kuster, general manager at the Gym Group is pleased to be able to work with IDASS, developing the Gym Group brand into the future.
